How we look after your details

This page explains what Emir Overseas collects when you use this website or book a consultation, why we need it, who we share it with, and how you can see, change or delete it.
1. Who we are
Emir Overseas is a study-abroad consultancy that helps students apply to universities in Malaysia and other countries. We decide how your details are used, so we are responsible for them.

2. What we collect
Details you give us
- Your name and WhatsApp number, with its country code.
- The degree you're interested in and when you want to start.
- If you fill in a longer form: your highest education, your marks, whether you are the student or a parent, and your email address if you choose to give it.
- Anything you tell us on WhatsApp, email or during your consultation.
- If you go ahead with an application: the documents the university or visa office asks for, such as mark sheets, passport copy and photos.
Details collected when you visit
- Which ad or link brought you to the page (for example, a Facebook or Instagram ad).
- Standard technical information such as your device, browser and IP address, which our website host records to keep the site running.
- A scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, used only to block repeated spam submissions from the same source.
3. Why we use your details
- To contact you on WhatsApp and set up your 15-minute consultation.
- To suggest universities and courses that fit your marks, plans and budget.
- If you decide to go ahead: to prepare and send your applications, and help with your visa, flights and stay.
- To send you updates about intakes and deadlines. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To see which of our ads work, so we spend less on the ones that don't.
We use your details because you gave them to us and agreed to this when you ticked the box on our form. You can withdraw that agreement at any time (see Your rights). If you do, we stop using your details from then on.
5. Details stored outside India
Some of the services above keep data on servers in other countries. When you apply to study in Malaysia, the university and the Malaysian authorities will receive your application details in Malaysia. We only use services we trust to look after your details properly.
6. How long we keep them
- If you send an enquiry or book a consultation but don't go ahead, we keep your details while we handle your enquiry and follow up with you about later intakes. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
- If you apply through us, we keep your file for as long as we need it to support your studies and visa, and for as long as the law requires us to keep records.
- You can ask us to delete your details sooner at any time.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what details we hold about you and who we've shared them with.
- Correct anything that's wrong or out of date.
- Delete your details.
- Stop sending you updates, or stop using your details altogether.
Email hello@emiroverseas.com or message us on WhatsApp. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can pursue your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
8. If you're under 18
Many of the students we help are still finishing Class 12. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to fill in the form with you or for you. We will speak with your parent or guardian before we use your details for an application.
10. Keeping your details safe
Only our team members who need your details to help you can see them. We keep them in password-protected systems and never post them publicly. If something goes wrong that affects your details, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your details, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
