January 2027 Intake in Malaysia: Deadlines and Timeline for Indians
Malaysian universities take international students more than once a year - but the real deadline is not the university’s, it is the visa timeline. Here is how the January 2027 intake actually works, checked 31 October 2026 against official pages.
When intakes happen.
It depends on the university and level. Private universities generally offer more frequent intakes than public ones.
The deadline that matters.
Universities set visa application deadlines well before classes start, because every international student’s Student Pass runs through EMGS.
Plan backwards from the EMGS steps.
Accept your offer
You apply on the EMGS portal with your documents.
eVAL issued
EMGS and Immigration issue your eVAL.
e-Visa
Indian nationals then apply for the e-Visa, which EMGS says takes about 48 hours to process.
Arrival card + fly
You fill in the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card within 3 days before you fly.
Medical + endorsement
After arrival you complete medical screening at a panel clinic within 7 working days, and your university submits your passport for the Student Pass endorsement.
If you miss it. Missing the visa deadline usually means deferring to the next intake rather than starting late - which is exactly why the January/May/September rhythm of foundation and private universities is useful: the next start is rarely far away.
