Documents You Need for a Malaysian University Application (2026)

Most Malaysian university applications stall on documents, not decisions. Here is what to prepare, in the order you will need it, based on how EMGS publishes the process. Checked 31 October 2026.

01

The three stages.

1

Stage 1: the university application

Before anything visa-related exists, you apply to the university with your academic records - school certificates and transcripts for a bachelor’s, plus your degree certificate and transcripts for a master’s - and proof of English where the university asks for it (each university sets its own English requirement, listed on the programme page). The university’s offer letter is the document everything else depends on.

2

Stage 2: the EMGS application

Once you have the offer letter, the Student Pass application goes through EMGS. EMGS publishes the current required-document list under Guidelines on visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my - the core items are your passport, the offer letter, your academic records and a passport-style photo. Passport validity matters here: apply with a comfortably valid passport, because your Student Pass endorsement sits inside it.

3

Stage 3: entry and arrival

Indian nationals apply for the e-Visa after the eVAL - EMGS says the e-Visa takes about 48 hours to process - and fill in the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within 3 days before flying. Keep printed or offline copies of your offer letter, eVAL and e-Visa for arrival.

Practical tips.

Scan clearly, name sensibly

EMGS uploads get rejected for unreadable scans, and each rejection costs days.

Keep one folder

Digital and printed: passport, photos, academic records, offer letter, eVAL, e-Visa and MDAC confirmation. That folder travels in your hand luggage, not your suitcase.

Where Emir fits.

For students we place, we check every document before it goes anywhere - the scan quality, the format, the order - so applications move the first time. Message us and we will check your set.
