Masters in Malaysia for Indian Students: Fees and Real Routes (2026-27)

A masters abroad for the price of a year of living costs elsewhere - that is Malaysia's quiet advantage. Here are real published masters fees in rupees, plus the routes that matter. Checked 31 October 2026.

01

Real published masters fees.

Universiti Malaya (QS 58th in 2026) - total programme fees for international students:

  • Master in Data Science: RM 41,700 total (about Rs 9.8 lakh at RM 1 = Rs 23.4437, 29 October 2026)
  • Master of Artificial Intelligence: RM 48,100 (about Rs 11.3 lakh)
  • Master of Cyber Security: RM 48,100 (about Rs 11.3 lakh)
  • Master of Software Engineering: RM 43,300 (about Rs 10.2 lakh)

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia: its MBA is published at RM 63,875.60 plus 6% SST - about Rs 15.9 lakh all-in - detailed in our MBA fees guide with the exact figures.

02

The three masters routes.

  • Coursework masters: taught, usually 1-2 years, the practical route for a career upgrade.
  • Research masters (MPhil-style): thesis-led, the route towards a PhD - often with lower fees and assistantship possibilities.
  • MBA: the management route; Malaysian MBAs range from affordable public-university programmes to British branch-campus degrees - see our MBA guide for exact published fees.
03

What to check before you commit.

  • Entry requirements: most taught masters want a recognised bachelor's with a minimum CGPA; some ask for work experience (MBA especially).
  • Intakes: many Malaysian masters run January, May and September intakes - you rarely wait a year.
  • Total cost: add living costs (RM 1,500-2,000 a month by a university's own published estimate) and check whether the fee is for the whole programme or per year.

Where Emir fits.

We match your bachelor's, budget and career goal to the right masters, verify the official fee in writing, and run the application and visa.
